Returns and Refunds Policy

Last Updated: 6 October 2026

Thank you for shopping with The Accidental Artist.

We want you to be happy with your order. This Returns and Refunds Policy explains when returns, cancellations, replacements, and refunds are available for our art prints, stickers, digital products, bespoke artwork, personalised products, and other items.

This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and Shipping Policy.

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under applicable consumer law.

1. Our Products

The Accidental Artist offers a variety of products, including:

  • Art prints and physical artwork.

  • Stickers and other physical creative products.

  • Bespoke and personalised artwork.

  • Digital downloads and other digital products.

  • Other creative goods and gifts.

Different return and cancellation rules may apply depending on the type of product purchased.

2. Standard Physical Products

Our standard, non-personalised physical products, including art prints, stickers, and other ready-made products, may generally be returned if you change your mind, subject to applicable consumer cancellation rights and the conditions in this policy.

Returned products should be:

  • Unused and in their original condition.

  • Returned with their original packaging where reasonably possible.

  • Protected appropriately during return shipping.

  • Returned within the applicable cancellation or return period.

Because prints and stickers can be easily damaged, we ask that they are packaged securely when being returned.

3. Change-of-Mind Returns

For eligible online purchases, consumers generally have a legal right to cancel their purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods, subject to applicable legal exceptions.

If you wish to cancel an eligible purchase, you should notify us within the applicable cancellation period and return the goods within the required timeframe.

You may be responsible for the direct cost of returning an item where you are exercising a change-of-mind cancellation right, unless we have agreed otherwise or applicable law requires us to cover the cost.

You are responsible for taking reasonable care of physical products while they are in your possession.

If an item has been used, damaged, altered, or handled beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics, and functionality, we may be entitled to make a deduction from the refund where permitted by law.

4. Digital Products and Downloads

Digital products, including downloadable artwork, digital prints, templates, files, or other digital content, are treated differently from physical products.

Where you purchase a digital product and request that supply begins immediately, you may be asked to expressly acknowledge that:

  • The digital content will be supplied before the end of the applicable cancellation period; and

  • You understand that you may lose your statutory cancellation right once supply of the digital content has begun, where permitted by applicable law.

Once a digital product has been supplied or made available for download following the required consent and acknowledgement, we generally cannot accept a cancellation based solely on a change of mind where the applicable statutory cancellation right has been lost.

This does not affect your statutory rights if the digital product is faulty, corrupted, does not work as described, is materially different from its description, or otherwise does not conform to the contract.

Digital Product Issues

If you experience a problem with a digital product, please contact us.

For example, please contact us if:

  • The download link does not work.

  • The file is corrupted or incomplete.

  • The wrong file has been supplied.

  • The product does not match its description.

  • The digital product does not function as reasonably expected.

  • There is another technical issue preventing you from accessing or using the product.

Where appropriate, we may provide a replacement file, new download link, correction, refund, price reduction, or another remedy in accordance with applicable law.

5. Digital Products Are for Personal Use

Unless otherwise stated on the product page or accompanying licence, purchasing a digital product does not transfer copyright or intellectual property rights to you.

You are purchasing the right to use the digital product according to the applicable licence or terms supplied with that product.

You must not resell, redistribute, share, reproduce, upload, or commercially exploit digital files unless the applicable product licence expressly permits you to do so.

6. Bespoke and Personalised Items

Because bespoke and personalised products are created specifically for you, they are generally not eligible for cancellation due to a change of mind where an applicable legal exception applies.

This may include:

  • Bespoke artwork created to your specifications.

  • Personalised art prints.

  • Custom names, messages, dates, or wording.

  • Custom illustrations or designs.

  • Products made in a specific size, colour, format, or design at your request.

  • Other items that have been clearly personalised or made specifically for you.

Before production begins, we may ask you to confirm the details of your bespoke or personalised order.

Please check all spelling, names, dates, wording, photographs, and other information carefully before approving your order.

We cannot accept responsibility for mistakes in customer-provided information that has been correctly reproduced in accordance with the approved order.

However, bespoke and personalised products are still covered by your statutory rights. If your custom product is faulty, damaged, materially different from what you ordered, or otherwise does not conform to the contract, please contact us.

7. Bespoke Digital Products

Custom digital products created specifically for you may also be excluded from change-of-mind cancellation where an applicable legal exception applies.

This may include custom digital illustrations, personalised digital artwork, custom templates, or other digital files created to your specifications.

Where we provide a proof or preview, you are responsible for checking the information carefully before approving the final product.

This does not affect your statutory rights where a bespoke digital product is faulty, materially different from the agreed specification, or otherwise does not conform to the contract.

8. Proofs and Customer Approval

For certain bespoke products, we may provide a digital proof or preview before production.

Where a proof is provided, you are responsible for checking the proof carefully, including:

  • Spelling.

  • Names.

  • Dates.

  • Colours.

  • Images.

  • Layout.

  • Personalisation details.

  • Other information supplied by you.

Once you have approved a proof, changes requested afterwards may not be possible and may incur additional costs where appropriate.

Approval of a proof does not remove or limit your statutory rights if the finished product is defective or does not conform to the agreed specification.

9. Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrect Items

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, defective, or incorrect, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Please provide:

  • Your order number.

  • A description of the problem.

  • Photographs of the product where applicable.

  • Photographs of the packaging if the item appears to have been damaged during delivery.

For digital products, screenshots or other evidence of the problem may be helpful.

We may ask for additional information to help us assess the issue.

Depending on the circumstances and your legal rights, we may offer a replacement, repair, refund, price reduction, corrected file, or another appropriate remedy.

10. Damaged Prints and Stickers

If an art print, sticker, or other physical product arrives bent, creased, torn, scratched, damaged, or otherwise unusable, please contact us with photographs of the item and its packaging.

Where the damage occurred before delivery or during delivery and a remedy is required, we will work with you to resolve the issue in accordance with your statutory rights.

We may offer a replacement where the product is available. If a replacement is not reasonably available, we may provide an appropriate refund or other remedy.

11. Colour and Appearance

We make every effort to ensure that product photographs and colours are represented accurately.

However, colours may appear slightly different depending on your monitor, phone, tablet, printer, lighting conditions, and other display settings.

Minor differences in colour resulting from screen or display settings do not necessarily mean that a product is faulty or incorrectly supplied.

Where a physical or digital product is materially different from its description or approved design, please contact us so that we can investigate.

12. Handmade and Bespoke Variations

Where products are handmade, hand-finished, or individually produced, minor variations may occur.

Small differences in texture, finish, colour, positioning, or appearance may be inherent to the production process and do not necessarily constitute a defect.

We will always aim to ensure that products match their descriptions and agreed specifications.

13. Returns

Where a return is required for a physical product, we will provide instructions on where and how to return your item.

Unless otherwise agreed, items should be securely packaged to prevent damage during return transportation.

We recommend using a tracked delivery service when returning higher-value items.

If you arrange and pay for a return yourself, please retain your proof of postage and tracking information.

Digital products cannot normally be physically returned. If a digital product is defective or otherwise fails to conform to the contract, we will provide an appropriate digital remedy in accordance with applicable law.

14. Refunds

Once a returned physical item has been received and assessed, we will process any refund that is due.

Refunds will normally be made to the original payment method used to place the order.

Where you exercise a statutory cancellation right, refunds will be processed within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Where permitted by law, we may wait until returned goods have been received or you have provided evidence that they have been returned before issuing the refund.

Where a deduction is legally permitted because a physical product has been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary, the refund may be reduced accordingly.

For digital products, any refund will depend on the circumstances and your applicable statutory rights, including whether digital content has already been supplied following the required consent and acknowledgement.

15. Original Delivery Costs

Where you exercise a statutory cancellation right for an eligible physical product, we will refund the standard delivery charge paid for the original order where required by applicable law.

If you selected a more expensive delivery option than the least expensive standard delivery option available, we may only be required to refund the cost of the standard delivery option.

Where an item is faulty, damaged, incorrect, or otherwise does not conform to the contract, we will cover applicable costs where required by law.

16. Exchanges

We may offer exchanges for standard physical products subject to availability.

If you would like an exchange, please contact us before returning the product.

Bespoke and personalised products cannot generally be exchanged simply because you have changed your mind, although this does not affect your statutory rights where the product is faulty, damaged, incorrect, or does not conform to the contract.

Digital products cannot normally be exchanged. Where there is a problem with a digital product, we may instead provide a corrected or replacement file, another appropriate remedy, or a refund where required.

17. Sale and Discounted Items

Sale and discounted products are subject to the same statutory consumer rights as full-price products.

A product being sold at a reduced price does not remove your rights if the product is faulty, not as described, or otherwise does not conform to the contract.

Where a discount or promotional offer has been applied to an order, the amount refunded may reflect the actual amount paid for the returned product.

18. How to Request a Return or Refund

To request a cancellation, return, refund, replacement, or other remedy, please contact The Accidental Artist using the contact details provided on our website.

Please include:

  • Your full name.

  • Order number.

  • Date of purchase.

  • Product concerned.

  • Reason for your request, where applicable.

  • Photographs, screenshots, or other supporting information where relevant.

We will then provide any further instructions required.

19. Statutory Rights

Nothing in this Returns and Refunds Policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or replace any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.

In particular, if an item is faulty, not as described, not fit for purpose, damaged, or otherwise does not conform to the contract, you may have additional legal rights and remedies.

Where this policy conflicts with a mandatory legal right, the applicable law will prevail.

20. Contact Us
